The spoiled under-30 crowd!!!

I was the only kid in the hood without a dirt bike. Scars took years too fade.

I remember christmas at a girl friends house, I would be on the floor with the kids building stuff ,and they would think, "what a nice guy, taking time out to play with the children" but in reality it was all about the legos, I'd be pushing kids out of the way to get certain blocks.:)

At least your scars weren't from Bobcat's boots kicking you out of the way. Those kids I feel sorry for. Probably grew up to be .........

Hell, like Bobcat.:26:

have you seen the price of legos? it would be cheaper to buy a used one.

aint that the truth. Legos are the chit though. I was in target the otherday and they have a boat with a dingy that you can buy pretty cool. I think I am going to get it:biggrinjester: Oh and I'm 30 and still play with toys:rofl:

Me too.....!!!!!
a 5 min bicycle ride from our place there was this abandoned gravel pit there would be like 30 dirt bikes and minibikes out there, Id hang out there all day on weekends.......they would boot up behind our place on the way to the store for cold drinks and chocolate bars......brapppppppp brappppppp brapppppp.......all day long.....nobody ever called the cops.....I had a buddy his Dad bought him a really nice Rupp......he didnt even really want to ride it!:ack2:......I thought he was totally insane......

I saved for my own......I had a paper route for years, cut grass, used to pick apples in the fall......when I was 14 my cousin let me take out his 73 R5C 350 Yammie (same as an RD350 but a drum brake and no reed valves).....the power was intoxicating......I had to have it......after wanting a dirt bike my whole life right on the spot after one ride I wanted a street bike......on my 16th b day I bought the actual bike from him for $450, had enough money for insurance, new tires, new chain and sprockets, battery and a safety.......told my parents at the supper table I wanted to buy a street bike......my Mom said "You will not!!".......I said "Go check it out its in the back yard....." Mom almost fainted......poor thing.......a few weeks later I had my bike licence and was riding it to high school.......I was so proud of that bike!!!

I bought one and was forced to sell it. Only road it once. When I turned 18 I bought a street bike. My mother told me I couldn't live there and ride a bike.

As it worked out she missed me when I left.

I hate it that my nephew is outgrowing that stuff.

I don't have an excuse to play with the logos now. :smash:

I always wanted a bike too but my parents said no way and once I was old enough and moved out.......it went from "No" to, "you will be cut out of the will if you buy one.".

Remember being in school and watching "film-strips".
And how often did one of those things get stuck, and you watched the film melt on the overhead screen.
It was kind of cool.

yes, and the outdated geography , " you are now looking at modern constantinople (try spelling that after 15 beers) , the audio never worked with the strip, ( advance now) but kudos to whoever designed the all metal cart that had the outlets to run a projector / overhead viewer .

I bought a street bike within 2 months of turning 18. I lived with my Dad and he said no to co-signing the loan. He thought that it would end that idea. Instead I convinced an older friend named Larry to co-sign.... played on his memories of his Honda Dream when he was my age. I rolled in the driveway on my Suzuki gs450l and Dad said "so... you gonna live at Larry's now?"
9 months later I sold it to that buddy that you sell all of your stuff to. The little brother friend. You know the one.
By this time, I established enough credit to get a brand new 1982 Yamaha Seca Turbo. Dad got his keys, jumped in the car and went to take out an insurance policy on me. The statistics were on his side. :D
That bike was fun. Could pull up next to a 900 ninja at 70mph... look over at the guy... twist the throttle all the way back.... wait for it.... wait for it... about 3 seconds later, just as the guy wondered wtf the boost gate would open and you would be gone. A disappearing red dot. Like God came and pulled on a huge rubber band that was connected to you.... but not the ninja. :D Who ever decided to put a 250k rpm turbo on a motorcycle was an evil genius. :D 26 years ago.... but making 130hp and 120mph.

I can still remember winding those filmstrips up with my thumb.
The speakers weren't really enough to overcome the fan noise, and that flipping sound.. so they would crank the sound up until it distorted really bad.
The little notches for the advance gear wheel would tear. It was very important to start the filmstrip properly. Any misalignment would shorten life. This was a lesson that translates to drive service, I believe.

Anyway.... at my school the cart had two projectors. One for "state" films and one for "church" films. I am not sure why we were allowed to have them on the same cart. Maybe we were an illegal second grade a/v gang.

I posted what I thought was an interesting list the other day and was informed it would post if approved by a moderator. Guess it vanished or was so vulgar  WTF is this????

Fund,My first street bike was a 650 Maxim 4 cylinder yamaha. The little brother to the Seca. I had straight bars and a fairing installed be fore I took delivery. I was light and foolish and the bike light as well. My buddy bought a Kaw Turbo and an other buudy had a Suzi. May we had fun. Sold the Yama after a year with 18k miles and bought a Interceptor It was # ooooo96. Fun FUN . I put 7500 mile on it between may and dec when I totaled it. Got lucky never got hurt riding. Used up about 4 lives though.
