Just an f.y.i
I just saw a copy of the 30th anniversary program and it is fantastic. Loads of past and current SBI/race teams/stats/historical pictures and info. Get one as soon as you get there because they are going to be a collectors item.

Pat....is this the longest running Offshore Racing event at 30 years...
Pretty impressive....
and would Sarasota be the 2nd....

Not this year, still picking up Voting Machines here in Jersey and have a few Family problems. Nothing I can't handle. Hope you all have a great time, miss seeing everybody...MISS RACING!

Gino.....where were you? You missed a great week. There were a lot of faces there from the past.....Charlie Marks for one.... who remembers what his boat name was?

Ratickle......and why didn't I see you?

Augie.........I got the program for you......come and get it.

(If I had thought of it I would have sent it home with Smitty)

I think you are right. He stopped into race control and all the time he was talking I was trying to think of it.....but didn't get a chance to ask. Or maybe I was too shy to ask.......:blush5:
(yeah, that's it)

Charles E Marks! Now there is a name from the past. I worked for his company
for almost 10 years. One of his first boat rides was on my 22' Crestliner. Guess
that got him hooked on boats. His son "Eric" (Erics Reality) and younger son
Sean were along for the ride.
Boat racing was something Charles (and the company) could not afford. Both
the racing and the company failed. He is still being hounded for back taxes.
Court records show $1000,000 the IRS is trying to collect NOW, for back
taxes for the years 1987-1990 (these are public records). You should have
seen the exotic cars in the parking lot (for him & Eric).
Charles and I last worked together in 1998, Both as employees of a company.
and he was still talking about getting back into offshore racing. He loved those boats. He is now 72 years old, and apparently still lives in Potomac, Md.

First met Mr. Marks in 1972. A smart business man who new how to take
advantage SBA minority system (program 8A). Well, I could write a book on
C.E.M.

I will give him credit for one thing, in the 10 years I worked for his company,
I never missed a pay check!!
