Why is it that...

So, I'm looking at my current computer wallpaper of the znetix boat flying nice and level with the entire boat a few feet out of water, and the drives trimmed perfect.
So, we ALL love that feeling of freeing up from the water and catching a little air-time.
Are we all in the wrong game, and should just be interested in planes and get air time??
I'm thinking it may be just because boats are designed to run in water, and when you free them up, and run close to edge, and actually catch some airtime, you're actually going beyond what the boat was initially designed to do.

Is that the part of this sport/game/hobby/obsession that we all love?? Is it a sickness?

I can relate it in some ways to seeing a woman in a bikini, and she looks good. But, seeing her in office attire, and bending over to get a file and you get a peak at her boobs can actually be much more sexy.

Is it just because you're seeing what you weren't supposed to see, or you're taking a boat out and doing more than it was supposed to do????

Anyone see where I'm going with this??

For me, and I am PUI, its the same as running hard in the desert, vehicles are made to run on the ground not skip along and fly thru the air.... its the absolute freedom of running without rules or constraints, becoming one with the machine and hanging it out.. for that moment in time you are in cmplete control and pushing the envelope,, nothing else matters except pure freedom limited only by your skills and machine. being on the edge of completely out of control is the most peacefull I have ever felt.

Yeah, had a few beers last night, but it was on my mind.
I guess you guys understand.
Maybe it's about taking a machine and making it do something it wasn't even originally built to do.
It started with me at around age 7-8 jumping bikes off make shift ramps.
I recall using masking tape to tape a pine 1x6 board back together that we split in half after the first few jumps. Didn't think anything of it.

That is a yamaha blaster..well ok it is based on a blaster... cromoly frame about a foot longer than stock 12" of travel etc... and thats the old bike, the new one is a bit more hi tech, going on 50 hp with 15" of travel

But seriously, something about running right on the line, and maybe crossing it - isn't that what we all love about these boats anyway.
I had my first performance boat (make doesn't matter), and I beat the hell out of it. I could take more than the boat could, and it broke a few times, badly.
So I searched out for a different boat that I think can handle the way I like to run them. We'll soon see.

Tim, your not right !! However its very true bro & its been like that for me since my first matchbox car.. Within about 15-20min of that it spread like a good virus.. After reading years of posts on the different forums, an overwhelming amount of us have grown up in a lot of the same ways, enjoying the same things.

I've always loved boats, ATV's, cars, chicks, etc, just like the rest of you. I've never had the serious desire to learn to fly though? It would be cool to fly a helicopter, and think it would be incredible to be able to fly a military fighter obviously. It's just never been something I've dreamed of doing enough to learn how.

Most of the people that ride with me in the boat, enjoy & comment on the total silence of everything during a good air. An ex-girlfriend of mine called it, "The silence of the sixes"
