A true Reggie Fountain Story

Some of my friends know this story and they're always asking me to tell them again. I thought I would share it w/ you guy's. I was racing in Ft Myers in 1999 F1 and I got thrown out of the boat testing on Friday. I broke my tailbone and my azz was solid blue and yellow. I took many pain pills and my crew built me a cushy seat made from eggshell foam , etc. We had to make a start as we were racing for a National Championship. I was scared to death as I never had any idea I would ever get hurt and crash as we did. Anyway we had our motorhome parked at The Bridge Restaurant right on the water and right before the race, I see Reggie Fountain walking outside the motorhome. I opened the door and said " Mr Fountain come here I want to show you something"! He came right in the motorhome and I pulled down my pants and said " Look at this "! His reply was " Damn Boy how'd you get that bruise on your azz"? I told him I got thrown out of the boat testing on Friday! I then asked him " Mr Fountain can you give me some advice on offshore powerboat racing'? His reply was " Stay in the boat boy , stay in the boat"! HAHA - true story!:sifone:

I have another one...........Worlds 1998 in Biloxi , MS at the ramp....we're sitting there just checking out all the boats and here comes Reggie's caravan of boats and support vehicles..........They're putting in one of his Super V boats and they stop on the ramp...... one of his crew members walks right up to me and says " Do you have a wrench we need to put the drain plug in?"......

1973 OPC Marathon Nationals,Eufaula,AL.No docks, all the raceboats were about 100' from the bank, crew members holding them. All the drivers just waded out to their boats and climbed in,except Reggie. One of his crew hoisted Reggie up on his shoulders, waded out to the boat and dropped him in the cockpit.Story was Reggie didn't like to race with wet shoes. Didn't seem to bother the rest of the Merc factory drivers, just Reggie.

1000 Islands Poker Run two/three years ago we were partying on the docks and Reggie was hanging out with everyone dressed in his jumpsuit and gold rimmed glasses. He stopped with our crew and B.S.ed for a few minutes, then moved on down the docks. A couple minutes later father and son spectators walked by after passing Reggie and the father turned to the son and said did you see the Elvis impersonator.
I nearly fell off the dock laughing!

Strange I always thought Reggie could walk on water.

Successful people don't get that way by complicating thisngs. Cover the basics and everything else becomes much less important.
