1300 hp mufflers

We have a friend with a Skater looking to be more dock friendly at the marinas.

Who makes the best tail pipe style muffler that can handle 1300 + HP?

Thanks in advanced for your input.

Donkey-dongs aka "Turn-down tips" are probably his option, and they do not result in any HP loss; nor do they have any internals to fail.

Some folks get spooked about reversion due to the way the exhaust is now connected to the water. Several folks have talked about drilling a hole in the turn down near the top/outer side of the bend which will relieve air pressure and now allow any water to get sucked into the exhaust/internals based on cam-lope or unexpected shutdown.

These make the boat damn near silent around the docks.

I just ordered the turndowns for my 40 skater, tried all the mufflers they will not get you legal and restrict motors, go with turndowns they are quiet as a church mouse at idle, have a place in Kansas City who makes mine 304 ss 5" and I polish them $84,50 each

They come pre-drilled on the inside of the turn. It was described to me as like "trying to drink out of a straw that has a hole in it" by Ron Gibson. The turn downs work....but do spash some water onto the back of your engine cover/sunpad while at idle. That probably isn't an issue on a Skater.
ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you would like some help on the turn downs, just let me know. I would be glad to build these for you! I also have another idea that I would like to run by you.

Anyone have video of a boat with turndowns idling in the water? How bad is this splashing?

Also, all of the turndowns I've seen so far have angle tips...does anyone make a set that terminate square? Would rubber flappers alleviate any issues with reversion (even though they'd be hanging - I'm sure they'd close if water was rushing in).

I'm interested in going this turndown route as well, but if it's a PITA with soaking the back, then...

It's like cutting a constant fart in a bathtub!!:sifone:

On my boat, it would get the back half of the sunpad wet....spashing lightly, but enough to make you look like you pissed in your pants while tieing up the lines to the back cleats. My wife got tired of it really quick!!!:biggrinjester::rofl:

Mine was not that bad but Top Guns and Tigers have different butts!

Besides just the help hangs back there at idle!!!!
