Petraeus for President?

Hmmm. Why not? He'd have my support.

Interesting article. From the the U.K.

Americans have never been so disgusted with their politicians. More than three-quarters of Americans disapprove of Congress. President Barack Obama's favourability ratings have slumped to below 50 per cent and he is no longer trusted or believed by many who voted for him.

Republicans are faring little better and the growth of the Tea Party movement reflects the widespread disgust with Washington and the political class. Incumbents across the board are vulnerable in November's mid-term elections.

Many voters yearn for an outsider, someone with authenticity, integrity and proven accomplishment. Someone who has not spent their life plotting how to ascend the greasy pole, adjusting every utterance for maximum political advantage...

My Dad mentioned that at dinner last night. I hadn't thought about it. Kind of an Eisenhowerish fella.

For some reason my first thought was what his "nickname" would be among the sharp wits of the left. "Betrayus" is too easy, really. :)

Keeping the dream alive.

He's as good a choice as anything the right has to offer. :ack2:

Who else ya got?

Romney? haha.

Brown? hahaha.

Palin? bwahahahahahaha!

That's exactly it. There's no one of interest doing anything compelling.
I think he would make a good candidate.

Last time I felt good about voting was in the mid-80's. I'm sick of the career politicians. And if Sarah Palin is our "outsider"...

Yeah, we should all be in mourning because John McCain isn't busy suspending the government to start a war with:

a) Russia
b) Iran
c) North Korea
d) Jon Stewart

It's like you guys have conveniently completely forgotten that idiot we put up with for 8 years who nearly ran the country into a ditch.

(cue the "Dems have controlled congress since 2006" bullsh!t)

It's better than starting a war with the American pocketbook. BTW...the old president is history...who cares anymore. The crap this one is doing is going to make Bush look good.

We should care because his stupid chit is STILL costing American lives and treasure. What are you, BRAIN DEAD? Christ on a cracker, that is just so freaking typical...

And speaking of the old straight shooter, I just found this on talking points memo. What a stand up guy.

GWB was a fiscal liberal- no doubt. But the Dem's are going to have to take a big chunk of the hit for the tipping point- the mortgage crisis.

I caught an episode of Bill Maher last night with Elliot Spitzer- I watched simply because I can't believe Spitzer has the stones to show his face in public. At any rate, Maher made an excellent point- we don't have a two-party system in this country. It's the same party with two slightly different flavors. Both corporate owned.

Nothing will change as long as money is Constitutionally-protected speech. Nothing.

All you have it hate for the right without ever offering any solutions.

Like I said, I hate the ignorance spewing from the vomit hole on the right. YOU TELL ME what alternatives the repubs have offered up besides NO NO NO. Oh yeah, let's cut taxes more.

Housing up 17% over last year just released. Jobs finally going in a positive direction. Dow pushing 11,000... all good signs but much work yet to be done.

I shudder to think where we would be right now with that tired old hack and the quitta from wasilla in the wh.
