Funds Brave restore thread

I need to decide about paint. I was going with the old colors (Red, Blue and stainless) but now I don't know.

I saw Geronimo's and wondered if a different color would be better. Stainless exhaust tips and stainless valve covers. The red was a little darker than the red on the boat. The interior is all white. Bilge is white.

Intakes and block were blue. Exhaust manifolds were red.

Ok, I think that I decided about paint. Stainless exhaust risers, painted exhaust manifolds, stainless flame arrestors, stainless timing cover, polished aluminum valve covers, painted intake manifold.

So, basically, if it ain't shiny or aluminum... it gets painted. Exhaust manifolds, intakes, blocks, bellhousing, brackets, etc. All one color.

The color? Candy apple red.
What do you think? Below is a "before" pic with the two colors and polished covers.

Is it going to be ready by spring?

Spring is in 11 days. Let's call it summer. :D

The tank was a huge time setback. That's behind me now. Last of the new parts are being ordered this week. Replacement exhaust manifolds should arrive tomorrow.

I'm talking to a guy about an inside work space to get a jump on the bilge work. The tank pulled me off of the painting and re-rig of the bilge. I am working with a buddy who has a local shop and he is taking on much of this so I can stay on schedule.

I'm done waiting. Even bought the tow vehicle already. :D

GIT R DONE! want to see our two boats tied up at the dock with cold beer in hand after a day of hard runnin!

Well I went back a couple of pages to try figuring this out without having to ask, but I think I have confused myself more by doing so

Where are you on the project? Is it ready to be reassembled, or is it already? I'm sorry if this has been covered a bunch of times already, but I have missed 50 or so pages since the last time I looked.

I bet you're chomping at the bit to get her out there!

Sorry about that Brandon. Quick synpopsis:
Put boat away in the fall with the tank and glass done and the bilge not finished. Parts for power were here last year, but got built over this winter. Power is now on stands, and boat is ready to come out of storage and get some new rigging for the new tank and power. Bilge also needs paint. Then new power goes in. Really just waiting on the weather to break now. (Boat is in inside storage, but not where I can work on it.)

Chomping ain't even the word. :willy_nilly:

Actually I am talking to a friend about a month in a spot that he owns. Just big enough for the boat with a man door, and an overhead door. Near my work.

If that doesn't work out, let me know, I know a place over by Abbott Tool that a couple of my friends have boats in, large covered building, power but no heat.

Nice!

Do you already have the dash put together, or did you change anything on it for the first season? New interior?

It sounds like you have the power all figured out & ready to be bolted down. Are you thinking of painting the boat white, then doing vinyl?

Sorry for all of the questions, it's just cool to see someone redoing a 28 Brave. I've always thought they have the best all around original/natural platform to make upgrades go the farthest, of any of the 28's in their class
