That's a little steep in my opinion. Still need a bunch of work to beat a few of the boats out there I think....:sifone:

The green boat for $75 is a steal if they would sell it. The cost to reproduce it with the set ups they have is way over the $125K range. If anyone thinks they are going to buy a SVL for $50K and not dump another $50K in it to be competitive is smoking crack. But what do I know. Oh thats right I did it 4 years ago. Bought a boat for 40K on a trailor without a motor or drive and by the time it hit the water on the first race we had $125K plus into it with out any dial in time or props. Spend another $7K on props and spacers and then test every weekend in warm places for another $10K. SOOOOOO when I hear someone think that $75 is steep I dont know what they think is a good price. I realize it will still need another $10K in testing with some new set ups, that is still a deal in my book. Rat not busting on you but if you or anyone else thinks you are going to have a shot racing in a boat for under $100k good luck. Most SVL guys have de valued there boats to just get out when they are done. In reality a new one out of the box tested and dialed in SVL in my opinion will set you back aprox $150K-$175K. And thats no guarantee you will win your first race. It will just get you in the ball park to have a shot. Winning is not cheap if thats what you are doing it for. If you just want to be apart of it than yes you can buy a boat for $50K. In the past the class has done everything possable to get boats out that were not as competitive as others. I believe that will still hold true but the teams that have spent there time and money to dial in there boats should not have to be penalized for there hard work and time. I for one have never been a fan of penalizing teams in the name of parity and having them carry more weight or any form of slowing them down. THEY EARNED THERE PLACE!!!!! SOOOO dont get mad if your $50K boat cant hang with a $150K boat that has been dialed in.

Randy

I thought you were going to buy it?

Randy you are very very right ,,,,but sometimes it is easier for some to spend monies in smaller amounts each month to build it,,at a slower pace, and get it done when your budget allowes,,,not many people right now will plop down 75 k all at once..I do hope someone buys it tho, and it will be one to deal with in the end,,,but their are 2 or 3 still out their that can be bought and built on a budget,,and in the end come out and compete with and have fun with the rest ,,, I did mine that way and it took 4 years and about what you said in money,,but it was worth every penny,,I love this class and the people involved...did i mention each year I followed less and less boats,,!!!:driving::cheers2:
