I think more and more companies should change or not necesarily change but also make something besides boats and turbine blades is a perfect fit because of size. You could also make semi replacement parts even in bad economy semi's still wreck and hit deer etc. Also stuff like this could be done by smaller builders to get their costs down and volumes up on glass and resin.

Most of the semi and rv parts made up here are extrusions from plastic. The large turbine blades they are making are kinda cool. I would imagine the market will be large if Obama gets his clean stimulous through in the next year or so.
Actually I was in a plant is south bend area that made rv parts they also made custom sleepers for semis(probably not a big market) I also found a company that made hoods side skirts and fenders (he even made the bumpers) out of glass just chopped but he did this for one bigger trucking company but it could be done. Yes new they are made of plastic or compresion molded glass. But that does not mean they cannot be replaced with fiberglass ones.
On the engine emissions thing isn't the limit something like if you do over 50 engines a year. But is it every new boat has to have this stuff. I looked for info and did not find.
I remember going for a tour of the S-2 Tiara plant in Holland Michigan back in 1982 and just being blown away how clean and progressive the plant was. I was only 18 but I had spent a few years building boats at my brothers facility and had been in many others. Very impressive back in the day.
I wasn't commenting on your boats as much as the "one off" stuff Hideaway was ordering a couple years back. Ugly boats with ridiculous prices seemed to be their criteria.....almost like lets order a goofy boat and see how much we can get for it!
The future is small boat builders that can give the potential boat owner what they want. Or mega mass produced to lower cost. I think the middle class now knows what trade-off means, and are ready to do it.
I like the magazine idea. How about I do a tv show about you starting your boat company. Don't kid yourself I had already thought about this. Good luck with the boat company I hope Maybe some of my ideas are used I posted on a thread on the other site about factory financing maybe read into that to. If anyone has some molds I'm all ears I do want to get into the boat business I need to find a way to lose some money. (not really).

Good Luck it really is a cool business like when you push the first one you built off it's trailer at the ramp ,you will see what I mean ,then there is room in this economy for small custom builders.
