For the Ocean LED lights, yes you have to drill a hole through the transom. The hole is the size of the power wire (maybe 2/10ths of an inch). The light itself is flush mounted.

Currently Stainless has the thru hull type in stock. The surface mounts are about 4 weeks out at present..

Stainless covers are available for the thru hull type..

This is what I have on my 47' Post (9 of them). Mine switch back and forth between white, blue or both. Side by side one is much brighter than the Ocean LED.
