Pres. Obama's surgeon general appointment

She was nominated for this position some time ago, only sworn in today.

I think what she did in the aftermath of Katrina was nothing short of heroic- remember reading details shortly after her nomination. All this bs about her weight is just more partisan bs from the peanut gallery. Her qualifications for the office are fine. more:

...she became the first African-American woman, and the first person under 40, to be elected to the American Medical Association Board of Trustees, and she also serves on the Board of Physicians for Human Rights.

In September, she was one of 25 recipients of the $500,000 “genius awards,” awarded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, and she is the 1998 Mandela Award winner and was chosen in 1996 by “CBS This Morning” as Woman of the Year.

A family member of mine smoked from the age of 12 to 77 all his life and mostly cigarillos or cigars...
And he didn´t die of lung cancer or any other cancer... but 3 weeks after his wife had died.
So Stress made it.

Other than that I agree on diabetes and obesity.

One person makes a consensus

Sounds good. Just tell me that she cheated on her taxes or had an illegal employee and I'll be as comfortable with her nomination as the rest of the choices for all of the other positions so far.

That is so true BBB725! some states just seem to thinner people while others seem to have heavier people in them.

I always notice this at airports, when I am traveling.
