Artie Lange

Sad to hear that the long time member of the Howard Stern Show attempted to take his own life.
Reportedly stabbed himself 9 times.

Funny funny comic.

From what I heard on the replays last yesterday they finally broke the story on Stern, after Page Six came out with the details. Hard to understand what would drive him to do it, especially with a knife.

Nobody that wants to kill themselves tries to stab themselves to death.

And this is no surprise. The guy has been headed towards a young death for years. Howard takes that to the bank every day- and what a good friend he is for doing it. Of course helping the guy would make him very un-funny (remember sober Richard Pryor?) and that would pinch Howard's paycheck.

What I find poor is that Howard has yet to talk to the guy or visited him.

Professes to be " family" and hasnt been to his bedside or called.
If you listen to Lange on the radio you would know hearing from Howard would be a boost to his spirits.

I read that 3 of his wounds were severe.

I'm guessing Howard is PI$$ED. Artie didn't even give him a shot at setting up a pay-per-view deal on this.

Artie wants to be a self-fufilling prophecy....the next Belushi, Candy, Farley (fat guy dies young). He is whacked out about living past 42, the year his old man became a parapeligic. The Artie Lange story isn't going to end good.......the gambling, drugs, hookers are all downward spirals that he uses to fill the huge "hole" he has inside himself. No matter how much he indulges, the hole never gets filled.

I recently saw his "Beer League" movie and it was funny but a lot of the material is the same jokes/one liners from the daily radio show and he really just plays himself in the movie (drunken wannabe softball player from NJ).

Chris is right (as usual) that someone that wants to kill themself doesn't stab themself (guns, hanging, car in garage all have a higher success rate). Howard gets to thrive off this "drama" good or bad it is ratings gold. I think he cares about Artie but I think he is going to be done with the show for good (sleeping on air, physical fight with assistant on air, missing work are all signs he doesn't want the job or stress that comes with it).

He must of been on some crazy drugs to try to go out that way.
He always talks about how his mother finds out about his crazy ways and feels bad for her. Now she finds her kid laying on the floor after attemting suicide bleeding to death.

Paramedics had to be pizzed too....lifting that fat mess onto a stretcher!

VERY sad
I am sorry to hear it
I think just about everything mentioned is true though. He'll try to be Belushi, Howard will get $$, and it would be hard to change either:(

I really only feel bad for his mom and sister. If you listen to him on Stern and read his book, he is a selfish ***** for all the hurt he has put on them. I don't like to see anyone pained enough to try to kill themselves but people have been trying to lend a helping hand to him for years and he doesn't want it. In Lange's famous quote "WAH":03:

+1. agreed!

I get the feeling some of you guys don't listen to Howard very much, if at all.... They (the entire show) has been trying to help Artie for years now...provided him with support and gave him everything he needed......They even had an intervention at one point....

Howard hasn't said anything on the show because his family asked him not to and if you listen to the show they are dissapointed..

The problem isn't howard it's chemichal dependencies and mental problems... Sorry but that's fact.

I saw his stand-up a few months ago... wasn't really impressed.. It was funny but not laugh out loud funny... As a matter of fact, one of his opening acts was literally boo'ed off the stage..literally...
