Collard Greens - Black Eyed Peas!

It's a tradition in the south. It is supposed to bring good luck in the coming year. I saw a girl in the grocery store loading up with collard greens.

Pickled Herring is supposed to bring good luck if eaten on New Years Eve.

If thats the case, I'll just have to take my chances.:ack2::ack2:

Black Eyed Peas and Collard Greens on the stove. The grill will be fired up shortly for the Pork Tenderloin. Cornbread is a given.

I made some beer bread yesterday. Never had it before...it's ok; but not as good as cornbread. It will go good with the stew we're cookin'tho.

No, Greens = Money and Black Eyed Peas = Luck.

I made both yesterday. I used both collard and mustard greens, and added a touch of sugar to get rid of that bitter taste. Use plenty of bacon or salt meat and this sh!t is the bomb.

And, it's called "escarole" in the civilized world you friggin rednecks. It can be made with a little garlic and oil or even in a soup with mini-meatballs. I'll take you to my fav place in the city if you ever come this way.

Watched a Sanford & Son episode where Fred ate 8 day old collard greens and thought he was gonna die. It was bad gas...( He had to eat them beause it was stinking the house up to high heaven, and Lamont told him to get rid of them).LOL
