As a winter storm pounded the Midwest, Palm Beach County residents experienced record high temperatures today.
A high of 90 degrees was recorded at Palm Beach International Airport, the National Weather Service in Miami said. Today's previous high was 87 degrees set in 1948.
Thursday could bring more record temperatures, but slightly cooler weather could arrive by the end of the week. Thursday's record is 86 degrees in 1987.
The temperatures are forecast to drop a couple degrees on Friday and Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. But that's if that front doesn't stall.
Friday's weather is expected to bring high temperatures in the low 80s and a lows in the mid 60s, forecasters report.
Palm Beach International Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport were reporting minimal delays, primarily with flights departing to and arriving from the Northeast.
At 6 p.m., flight information for PBIA showed that Jet Blue Airlines was experiencing delays for flights arriving out of New York's JFK and Laguardia airports and from White Plains, N.Y. Jet Blue also had delays for flights departing for Boston, New York and White Plains, N.Y.
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood airport spokesman Greg Meyer said that about 52,000 passengers were expected to pass through the airport today and about 25 percent of those were traveling to or coming from airports affected by the storm.
Some flights bound for Boston, Charlotte, New York and Newark, N.J. were being delayed more than an hour, airport flight information showed.
