Hurrican IDA...

Anyone think that it could make its way to key west by next week??

Could mean good rough water for some serious racing!

Anyone hear what the weather should be like next week in Key West?

Leaving Tuesday morning be in key west by 4:00!! See everyone there!!

It does look like the outer bands could affect Key West and this will need to be watched. The 5 day cone puts it into the Gulf a fair distance to the west of Key West but will still bring some crappy weather to the area. Atached is a link to NOAA National Hurricane Center. I would not be in any rush to change any plans. The next few days things should become more clear. I will be there.

A little breezy maybe, but overall shouldn't be a concern.

I cut the following out of the latest bulletin and if it holds true Key West should have little or no concerns. Like i said - please do not change your plans at this point. Let's just keep an eye on things. The next few days things will become more clear.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 75 MPH...120 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER
GUSTS. IDA IS A CATEGORY ONE HURRICANE ON THE SAFFIR-SIMPSON SCALE.
WEAKENING IS EXPECTED AS IDA MOVES INLAND OVER NICARAGUA TODAY AND
TONIGHT. IDA IS FORECAST TO WEAKEN TO A TROPICAL STORM LATER
TODAY.

I have a pretty good beer belly going this fall, it would take a pretty good gust of wind from her to mess with my plans!

This is why all boat Captains need to pay attention:

It could be a bumpy ride for those going down to Key West early in the week. The Keys and Biscayne Bay offer some great protection and seas inside the reef are always less than outside but this needs to be watched. Always good to start thinking about a "plan B" in advance. I'm still on for Thursday but I will have a "plan B" if no change by the first of next week.
