NOT How To Treat A New Truck!

Actually it starts before the patch and he lifts off or shifts bad at the patch...and the tires just catch grip.

If he´d master powershifting ( if it´s a manual) and not yank the wheel he´d done it fine...
But what do I know... I just once found out with a dump truck that putting the Jake brake working every time you lift off you can shift a Fuller faster than anything up or downshifting and you only need to lift off a quarter of the go pedal to hit it right.

Big Block engine, tons of torque, short wheel base, live axle, they will turn left 8 out of ten times without the uneven pavement as they tend to drive off the right rear when they launch.

Agreed, he was trying to make it fishtail and that is something you would never want to do on an uneven surface.

no offense but why would you do that to a COPO? if it is a numbers matching car you are destroying a rarity.

Offtopic but let´s GO.

Now why would you assume it´s #match car ? And it´s not a Rarity a curiosity is more correct.
It has Dealer warranty engine (?) in it from 71 which is put on bay and a bolt on swap done so it can always be brought back to stock if wanted, besides it´s not a COPO # per se only a paint order, no PNT # on the tag as the paint didn´t have one for the lineup.
The livery is a Hugger orange/black stripes/black vinyl car so no biggie IMO to do a full resto to despite some fanatics thinking otherwise..and It´s my car.
I like to have my cars as drivers, Just like my friend with a REAL LS-6 4 speed ElCamino over here...ours are the only Cowl induction SS Elkys here though.

There´s Also a Swede Street Racing his COPO 427 69 Camaro and he uses it as it´s supposed to, WOT as much as possible.
Why a 540 then... cause a SS396/350 gets spanked bad here by every damn Audi Sedan or such with a Turbo...

Did I mention I have the last 1961 Fuelie 315 hp Vette made as we (NCRS/NCOA) know it and the last built 61 known in general and it´s getting a Crower Stack with an Alu donovan SBC someday and will continue as a MS class Gasser like back in the days :sifone:

I hate Stock restos but I have one for that. A 65 Gransport Convert.:USA:

Not a bigblock only the size of one.
Torque yes but not tons of it..only half.
Long wheelbase even though short for a truck.

And with that said 10/10 they will turn left everytime..simple physics.

He didn´t know better and he even might not even notice what he was doing with the steering wheel...
But we got to start somewhere
Just like this one...

Thanks for the long winded response about what others around you have. it was a pretty simple question. I only asked if it was numbers matching COPO... bloviate on

I saw two similiars in my younger days.. unknown guy in a 7/11 parkinglot in a camaro does the full brakestand burnout...back end goes sideways and he let off the brake..launched in an arc straight into a parked car.. 2nd one was a friend doing a brake stand in a borrowed pickup, let off the brake and launched into a light pole...

A guy working in an Shop did also the same cause my friend told to show how a brand new GT 5.0 convert would burn.
Guy did it inside and when the building started to fill up my friend yelled to stop it... Then the GT needed some front end work...

No need to.
I think I made my point.
Case closed.
yes you did, its not a COPO, "it's only a paint order"...and you went on with a bunch of crap that had nothing to do with it to try to make yourself feel better. it's OK, you proved it wasn't a true COPO. Next time say you have a wannabe COPO, anyone can change a paint color.

Actually a paint order goes thru COPO and every other special order that´s not a RPO.
Just like fleet paint orders because that what COPO was actually for.
Paint orders could be had in groups of five at lowest per order, those 4 COPO no#´s (2 427 Camaros, 2 427 Chevelles ) had to be at least 50.

GM built the cars in groups at Chrysler you could have a true one of a kind... like the Importer here ordering a 4 door belvedere with a 426 Hemi.

And no not everyone can change the paint color. I´ve seen too many F-U´s...

Now if you wan´t to argue it take it to other forums discussing if a special paint order isn´t a COPO order or not.
I Know it is.

What a waste of fine machinery.

He ran out of talent.

Viper is the most wrecked car in the US.
Id bet the v-10 truck isnt far behind.

Uncle Dave

Your 100% right on!

My neighbor had a stock Vette conv. and wrecked it twice in a summer entering the neighborhood! He finally traded the Vette (400 HP, traction control/abs brakes) for a Viper (500 HP of trouble, no traction control/no abs)
That Viper gets painted more than a Nascar racecar! He even side swiped my truck/boat trailer one night. No damage to my stuff but the Viper had a tire high crease running the length of the body from my GMC.

How do they do on a road track?

I can't say I'm an expert on racing and track driving but they put in some decent times. For a benchmark on that track and assuming there are trained and qualified drivers behind the wheel I'll give you some times:

Ferrari 430 - 58 to 59 seconds
BMW M3 - 1:03
Corvette - <1:04
Lotus - 1:04
Cayman - 1:04
New Camaro - 1:09

This particular Cayman I was in had some mods to the suspension and he was running a 106 his first time out in it. He was totally not used to it so I suspect as he gets better the times will drop. However a highly qualified instructor got in it and drove it with him and the times were more in the 102 range but that driver is not your typical track driver.

The same driver (the Cayman owner) with his race modified 944 would put in consistent 1:04s and touch 1:03 occasionally. All said, it's a competent track car.

Great neighbor...

Great neighbor...

Guy has the biggest house on the street, single and dates strippers........obviously he is the oddity in the family oriented neighborhood. I just can't believe he bought the big house, lives there alone with his dogs and doesn't take care of anything. The Range Rover and Viper are daily drivers (both are beaters now) and usually when one gets a flat it will sit for weeks before he fixes it. He bought both new so they are a few years old now and time to trade! Viper had 100K on it the last time I asked him about it.
