SVL's go fast enough. Slightly warmed means another 4 or 5 mph to me. If the course were all in open water like Sarasota this year top speed in our class wouldn't matter.

As soon as you open them up you need a dyno to check them. Seems to me no matter what the specs are someone will spend enough to have an advantage. It is a whole lot more fun to test your way to more speed than power your way.
Make the race about challenging the seas instead of winning the sprint to turn ONE.
Mercury will rebuild and reseal an engine. You can still buy new ones (and with the current economy, I doubt they are planning a replacement anytime soon).
