interesting or whacked idea??

if the merc 850 and the 1075 are the same motor with the exception of boost and mapping, what about the concept of a gear driven 2 speed blower and dual mapped computer?? flip a switch and go from an 850 to a 1075..doesn' seem like it would be that difficult to do............

stick to medical school... :03::03:

The Mercedes boat is set up with a similiar option. a Conservative 1250 hp running with 93 octance. Flick the switch on the ECU, change 2 pullies and run 116 octane and it has 1,550 hp. Works great.

Not a whole lot of people can talk about their "conservative" 1250HP motors..:)

1075 still runs on pump gas, so just get the whipple kit for 2k , buy you an 850, install the kit and you have 1140hp at your fingertips, run it like an 850, but when you need to blast off you have the extra power.

I don't see any real purpose. Just as easy to pull back on the sticks.

Quit being so illogical Griff. Why would you use a simple lever to control how much horsepower your motor is putting out when you could have a complex system of gears pulleys and electronics! :p:p

my thought behind it was being able to extend service intervals

the pulleys are the same on the 850/1075 i believe. you would need the 1075 cam though. the ecu just dumps boost on the 850 at 6 instead of 10 psi or whatever on the 1075.

You wouldn't expect such a simple solution from a humble government servant, would you?????

In Gino's situation, I think its a great option.
