What an idiot. I sure hope this a-hole doesn't end up in the NBA getting paid millions.
Kansas coach Bill Self confirmed to FOXSports.com that starting guard Tyshawn Taylor ended up in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Tuesday night as a result of an incident involving members of the Jayhawks football and basketball teams.
"Tyshawn has a dislocated thumb and will have to wear a splint for about 10 days," Self told FOXSports.com. "We'll keep him out for three to four weeks."
The incident occurred on campus around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Taylor, who started 33 of 35 games and averaged 9.7 points last season, was treated and released.
Posts on Taylor's Facebook page reportedly showed tensions brewing, then his take on the fight's aftermath, according to the Kansas City Star.
He wrote "keep my name out ya' mouth for you get smacked in it," seven hours before the fight, then 30 minutes later posted, "never get outta character .. I'm always a G about it," according to the Star.
Around 4 p.m., he posted, "(racial slur)s be muggin me ..you know I'm mugging back."
After he checked out of the hospital, he wrote "real (racial slur)s do real things .. point plankn," then followed it up with an admission of throwing a punch: "I got a dislocated finger ..from throwing a punch ..so don't let the news paper gas yall up aite."
Self said that no other players on his team suffered any significant injuries.
"We're aware of reports of an incident, and we are gathering facts as we speak," Kansas associate athletic director Jim Marchiony told the Journal-World.
Self also said that Taylor will likely be held out of the Midnight Madness festivities on Oct. 16 — the first day of official practice.
"Probably not," Self said. "That's my gut. There's no reason to risk it."
