Single Engine V to Twin V

I have a feeling that this is going to be a stupid question but how hard would it be to retrofit a single engine V to a twin setup. I am just wondering on a boat like mind (29 singe engine fever) how hard is it to patch the hole in the transom properly and start over with a new engine setup?

Kinda depends on how the hull was built and where the stringers were placed. For a single the stringers are generally closer together and may not allow enough space for twins.

I believe that the 29 came with the option for twins. It would probably be more of an undertaking then it would be worth, wouldn't it? Probably more cost effective to buy a different boat.

It's like rtaylor said, all depends on how the stringers are fitted. Just have any performance boat mechanic look at it and they'll be able to tell you if it's possible. If the stringers are there then pulling the motor and blocking up the transom isn't that big a deal. You'll have to get the X dimension right on the new drives after re-cutting the transom.

You will most certainly have to redo the stringers. The fuel tank will need another pick up. Don't forget the dash, gauges and controls. The 29 Fountain used to be available with twins. It runs better as a single. Better Balanced

HP 83 is right it will be more cost efficient to buy a different boat.

The 29 sat SOOO low in the back with twins I'm supprised 1/2 on them didn't sink at the dock. Build a bigger motor for yours......or buy a different boat. Not worth it!!!!
