My advice would be to spend the extra money and get the 32gb. Video takes a lot of space and I suspect you will have no shortage of opportunity to take some vids.
so I finally picked up the 32 gig 3gs today. I must say, it is pretty sick. superfast doing everything on it. I did not have an iphone before, so it is confusing, but time will make it better. The reason I got the 32 gig, was I have just under 30 gigs of music. and truthfully, I do not get new phones very often, so I figured I may as well get the badazz one because I am going to keep it for a while. They also gave me a 6 gig data plan for $30 a month. I am just hoping when I got to the cottage tomorrow morning I get good service there, otherwise I am kind of screwed. From what I have seen of it so far, I recommend it!
THe Iphone you can now get xm raidio does that mean If I have an ipod control on the boat i can get xm thgouhg the iphone on the boat? I would like XM on the boat.

Yes, but an XM subscription is necessary, of course.
You have to remember though, the phone is getting it's information from either a WIFI source, or it's cellular network...if you're out of either of those ranges, there's no XM, no anything.
Whereas, an true XM receiver will see the satellite no matter where you are.
but why pay when the i-phone has plenty of things like Pandora, internet streaming radios for free...of course like said above...have to have service for it to work
also just because the i-pod works with the connection doesn't mean the i-phone will. The little speaker system i have in my house works, even though it says it won't..but the connector i have in my truck doesn't work with the i-phone....I am sure it is just an upgrade though
The new 3.0 software does support bluetooth stereo headset. I just tried it with a set of Sony Bluetooth headsets and it worked great. You don't need the 3G-S to get the software update either. No more getting tangled in the cord......:sifone::sifone:
Well i agree, i was more stating to the fact about having xm on the i-phone. why would anyone pay for that..now another reciever for the boat or truck, that i understand...jut not on the phone..
- don't like the far right search screen
- voice memo is cool- loved it on my phone before this one
- like it shows what number (mobile/home/work/etc) on called ID on recent call list
- like it shows me calling them or them calling me on recent call list vs just red missed/black answered
- notifications is cool

I have the 3G and not the 3Gs but I still love my phone. I am usually sick of a phone after a year but I have no plans to get anything other than another iPhone when renewal time comes around again.
I will be switching from Verizon and my crappy Razr as soon as I can actually stop working long enough to do it. Verizon's service is spotty where I am, worse yet is the Razr. My daughter was switched to a no name phone with AT&T here, and always gets signal. Interestingly, better service in parts of Florida I travel as well. Too bad all carriers can't be everywhere.
I basically want it for a Touch that happens to have a phone. I'll probably still use the old 60 GB iPod I have for the boat. I like the browsing much better on the iPhone, and I'll be happy to get rid of the Verizon voice mail, which is still the worst setup I've ever used. P
Paid sprint to kiss my ass and jumped over to At&t JUST for the iPhone, and I'm a miserly bastard. Worth every penny! The simple fact that they added video was the final straw that got me to jump. I can have my tunes, a camera, the web, and a video camera all in one pocket device... Done!
Still have the 3G and there is still not MMS, tethering, etc.
I have 2 phones- Verizon & AT&T and in the last 6-8 months my Verizon service has gotten 20-30 times better and my AT&T service has gone down by at least that much. No service where I use to have full bars (not just my phone), no data connections where I use to have them, etc. Almost at the point where I'm going to hit the road and get a Verizon phone- last one I looked at was the BB Storm and I wasn't much of a fan of the use but the features rock (MMS, tethering, camera).
Features:
- Create WiFi Hotspot to connect mutiple laptops or mobile devices to share your iPhone's internet connection
- 40 bit and 104 bit WEP Security to prevent others from accessing your WiFi HotSpot
- Ability to enable USB and Bluetooth Tethering on your iPhone as well
- Broadcasts the Network Name (SSID) - no need to fuss with creating an adhoc network on your laptop
- Uses less battery and much faster then PdaNet due to native routing
- Shows up and down bandwith usage
