Fox on my porch!

how aggressive are coyotes? is there a high incidence of attacks? just curious with the gaining population, we have seen a few out on the shore line by the point we hang out at.

they can be pretty aggressive.just go ahead and shoot them now:26:

Depends on hunger and ease of food. If they get real friendly, or you have small dogs, cats, or other small animals, shoot them if they start to come close to your place.

In the wild coyotes for the most part prey on small critters like mice, rabbits, pheasents and quail. They really arent that aggressive and are just looking for an easy meal, a dumpster full of food scraps is a lot easier than your housecat.

I had heard its open season on Coyotes here. They are unprotected and apparently a nuisance and starting to overpopulate.

They fall in the varmint category, like groundhogs. If you see them, you can pop them, night, day, whenever. Used to be they were pretty scarce, but from what I've seen the last 10 years or so, the amount of hunters has gone way down, game population has increased so predators have increased as well. We used to never see the coyotes, now we see them all the time.

Its kind of cool when you hear them beying (sp?) at the moon at night tho. :D

Ok Glassdave, who's the wiseazz that sent them to the moon?(thats where it says your from), all kidding aside, were starting to have a coyote problem where I live, wev'e got 2 that are seen regularly wondering the streets of our neighborhood (outside Orlando)and a bunch of cats have gone missing in the last 6 months but you can't discharge a firearm in a residential area to end the problem...sux

If one was chasing one of our cats they'd find out about firearms in a residential area.

Weird thing, they actually have a problem now in Chicago with coyotes......

Coyotes are thick around here, which works out well for predator hunting. :D Occasionaly a fox will come into the caller, but it is a rarity. Called in a bobcat a couple of weeks ago, and not the old drunk kind that we have around here. ;)

A Bobcat would be very cool I have never seen one in the wild.

Like others have been saying Coyotes have made a great come back around here. We have been known to call them in and you know the rest

My dad and I went Coyote hunting this afternoon on his place. I popped one at 427 yards on the range finder, DRT. 22-250's sure are fun! :D

I have to agree, if it comes down to my weiner dogs or discharging a firearm, you can gaurantee there are gonna be a couple of dead coyotes, I've actually taken to carrying my Kimber when we go out to the bathroom at night and in the early am.
