Applied in Kentucky.
HR suggested I do this. I only left the Co. because they could not place me in AZ, and the commute to Kentucky would be impossible.
HR seemed to think it was a resonable request when I left.
I'll likely be hired to a job I don't want by the end of the week. Already been through interviews, and pee-test. Probably make more than I did back there, but hours/schedule will suck.

The thing that is really ****infg me off is all the people living off the Gov't t!t, and I'm the guy paying in, getting nothing back.

Did you quit or were you laid off or fired? In Texas if you quit that's tough chit you get nothing. If I fire you for some misbehaviour the State may pay unemployment for up to six months, if I lay you off due to lack of work they will pay up to six months and bill me back for most of the benefits. This may also happen if they disagree with a firing which is why the paper trail is so important.

I think you are saying you had to quit, which right or wrong is voluntary. Likely no benefits in most states.

Unfortunatly thats the way it works in most cases. There have been a few special scenarios where I have allowed a claim after a guy quit. One was an exceptional employee who had to quit in order to take care of a terminally Ill family member. Unfortunately the corp. world doesnt give a rats azz about anyone.

Basically, yes, I was forced to quit, well, maybe forced isn't the right word.

Wife got the promotion, so for her not to take it would have been career suicide.
I wanted to stay with the Co.
Even have letters of rec. from both of my previous two supervisors, but they didn't have a position for me out here.

Yeah, but even the people I spoke with in HR felt that under the circumstances I should be able to collect.

I guess what bothers me, is all the people in this country that don't do a damn thing to even look for a job, and just wait for a check...

I guess in retrospect, If I would have run naked through the building and got fired for it, I could collect.
But, what was I thinking...
Instead, I was hard working, followed the rules, and tried to offer my services in another position within the Co.

re-apply like many govt deals they routinely deny everything then after questioning they give in. Next go around say you were forced to relocate due to a spouse job transfer and the company has no job for you.

I know- workin man gets screwed every time. That's why I've been supporting the post about the Big 3 and the UAW. I hate a union but think the guys at the top should take a wack on pay/benefits vs the guys at the bottom.

Two things I've learned over the years: (1) Never trust your HR rep; (2) Work hard, millions on welfare depend on you.

I would think that even if you left your employment voluntarily at some point if you haven't landed a new job you would be eligible to start receiving unemployment benifits.

When we terminate someone there has to be cause shown to deny immediate benefits, they will still get them but there is a period that they aren't eligible. If there laid off for lack of work they can get them immediately. I know when we lay off one of our Sprinklerfitters they apply the next day without delay...

If someone leaves on their own in our State the benefits don't start right away but if the person continues to be unemployed they can refile and they will start after a certain amount of time has lapsed.

It's a job I really don't want, but sitting on my azz pays even less than I thought, and I get bored quickly, I need something to do, and actually like working.
I'm just thinking the Gov't owes me a little over a grand.
