Wow...almost 12 boats race in Miami!

The reason I'm very interested is I plan on buying a canopy Vee and racing with my wife.

I would also like to design one that is removable if possible. Like the fighter jets.
just curious what make of boat are you thinking of and why not a 2 or 4 man canopy instead of a F16 fighter style :rofl: i would like to mention that i have put both style of canopies on Skater's and would recomend a 2 or 4 man canopy opposed to the F16 fighter style and lets go raceing and will you need a glass man who has crewed or worked on other teams boats ?:)

Be careful......... in spite of what your vendor may be telling you....stretched acryllic is not necessarily the strongest material out there. Do some independent research on it.....

I do like the 1" thickness however.

The devil is in the details....as usual.

T2x

you trade some strength for better optics I believe, but the thickness/span ratio is still pretty good with the 1" stretched acrylic.

Why, in a boat designed to go 200+ is there water intrusion from a hull breach? when you consider the damage and shrapnel of a 180-200 crash, one would think the cockpit would be a thick cf tub impervious from the top as well as the bottom. what good is a canopy with roll cage, small windows with thick plastic etc, when a crash at that speed the boat is coming apart and the bottom of the cockpit is swiss cheese.

and you are basing this 'swiss cheese' on what?

if you have water comming into the cockpit from a delam and NOT from an impact where the kenetics are MUCH more severe...there are holes where there shouldnt be. I.E. swiss cheese. the sides and bottom of a canopy/cockpit need to be able to resist the same forces as the roof while maintaining waterproof intergrity. what caused the delam is not important. what is important is that cockpit needs to be able to withstand MUCH greater damage and retain water tight integrity.

I am not trying to blast mystic or JBS. nor am I trying to stick my nose where it doesn't belong I am a medic, I work medical at races. a racers safety IS my buisness.

so you don't know what actually happened is what you are saying?

At first was considering a 28 Batboat with a canopy mod. Then, come to find out, they're not legal for anything except the bracket classes which make it kind of moot.

So, most likely a SVL with a four man canopy. However, I do want to figure out how to make it detachable. So, if we want to use it for pleasure between races, we can. I'd back down to just two boats most likely, but you never know.

So, anytime canopy comes up, I pay close attention.
