I just went outside and my neighbor has a huge plywood cow in his front yard with a sign for some feed the hungry people orginization "30hourfamine.org" looks like a bunch of kids trying to save africa again.. I sent the orginization this email


"While the aim of your program is very admiral, I must ask the following question before I pledge my support.



by simply feeding the impoverished, what are you doing to address the true root of the problem? The average woman in some african countries where this problem lies gives birth to 9 children starting at the age of 16. in as little as 16 years the one person you have feed has created 81 new starving mouths to feed., feed 10 of these women you are approching 1000 starving children in less than 20 years. Thus creating an ever expanding crisis. Who will be responsible for feeding them? without solving the root of the problem are you not becoming a primary cause of the very problem you are trying to solve?



If you can truely solve this problem, I will dedicate my life to your cause."

I firmly advocate population control. The resources and energy simply don't exist to support the levels we have now. These organizations, though valiant in their efforts, simply prolong the inevitable and do nothing to conquer the cause of the problems; they simply ease some of the effects.

I agree with what you are saying, and I see that crap all the time on campus. For the most part, I would rather donate to a local cause that helps feed children here in Canada, and even in Guelph.

I was 11 when we moved to the DC area back in 1983ish. AIDS was some thing everyone I knew knocking the boots was terrified of! I remember ziploc bags when you didn't have a spare (condom) and many other stories to keep from getting "the bug".
