Finally, a Conservative speaks. . .

Ron Paul is just a Libertarian in Republican clothes. But, that's not necessarly a bad thing.

The Libertarian party is the only Conservative Party remaining in the US. My (Democratic) sister says that my views match those of the Libertarian party.

Ron Paul gets it. It's too bad that no one else does. :(

A career politician (both Dems and Repubs) will ALWAYS attempt to make government bigger and more important in the lives of its citizens. This means more intrusion into the private lives of every citizen and in turn a more liberal government is created.

The politician gives more money to the voters and in turn gains more power. This process feeds on itself until the whole system implodes. Liberalism leads to socialism which leads to lower standards of living for all citizens.

For an example of Socialism, just look to Europe. Most Europeans have a horrible standard of living when compared to the USA.

Bottom line, the more power a government has, the worse off the people are. We are seeing the beginning of the end. Most of us won't be alive to see the end, but our grandchildren just may. :(

I am a "Goldwater" republican. :sifone: I think they are all gone now.

Guess that makes me a Libertarian too.

Lifted from Andrew Sullivan's blog - Daily Dish:

The GOP base wakes up (after eight years of total amnesia):

74 percent of Republicans in the new poll expressed grave worry about the deficit, 29 points higher than in December when George W. Bush held the reins.

Those of us cynical about Republicanism will hardly be surprised. The good news, however, is the rebirth of fiscal conservatism on the right. My advice to Republicans: your message against Obama will be stronger if you have the intellectual honesty to indict Bush and Cheney.

All of this talk about Obama, spending and the destruct button if useful discourse. But it would've been far more useful had Republicans been rattling this tone 6 years ago when spending sky-rocketed under Republican House, Senate and Executive leaders.

If Republicans are going to keep banging this drum, they become more enticing for true Conservatives. however, if they will only do it as hypocrits and not intict Bush/Chenet, et al. . . their concerns will fall on deaf ears. You have to give the people what they want, and that's accountability and recognition of past transgressions as a means of redeeming the party. IMHO
