No, if you have someone flat out lying to you, and you know it, you need to call them out, and then re-evaluate your level of trust.

obviously subject matter matters......claiming he drank 4 beers when you know he had 6 is one thing. I assume this was over something more substantial. You can call him out, or file it away in your head that he no longer values your friendship like he once did.......and adjust your trust level in him accordingly.

Tim, thats what I was thinking too. Dammit, I hate chit like this. I've been pissed off all day and I'm sure its not gonna get better until I confront him.

The closest person I have to a "best" friend (aside from my wife) is a guy a I used to work with back in Toledo.
I lost touch with him for a few years, and just recently got back in touch with him.
We saved each others lives a few times - literally.
And if I needed work, he took me on, if he needed work, I took him on in my Co.
We lived out of each others billfolds at times.

I don't want to lament about my wife, but she truly is the only person I fully trust - And I'm a very lucky man to have found her.

But if the guy's lying to you, if you care about him, you need to ask why.
A "best" friend doesn't lie without an explanation.
