Wonky Internet Connection at my New Pad

So I have been here for a couple days now. The guys are nice and chill, the house is rockin and in a GREAT location. Unfortunately, my internet is all wonky. Now only is it slow, but it cuts in and out all the time. Nobody else in the house seems to have this problem though. I have a 14inch HP laptop and it works great everywhere else. I tried to hook into the ethernet plug in the wall, but my laptop wont recognize it when i do that.

So, any suggestions?
