Dave do you really think anybody else on this site would subscribe to that mag or wooden boat builder unless they are in the trade ? I have been getting my boat builder mag through Skater since the 90s:rofl::rofl::rofl: besides i do not think anybody here would hold much interest in it unless it was Hot Boat , Power Boat , or Extreme unless they were involved in the trade .:rofl::rofl::sifone:

With the economy the way it is you may find some mags dissapearing. Advertising is what keeps mags going and it's the first thing to be cut when companies are going through hard times. Hotboathas gone through some major issues as of late and appears to be going through some more (for sale on craigs list), extreme boats has cut back to every other month, I haven't seen an issue of h2o in a while and performance boats came onto seen as the economy was declining.

The only mag that has been around with out fail for all these years is powerboat
magazine. SOme complain that they test too many unaffordable boats or styles of boats some don't like but in the end, even with less ad dollars, they have the backing to stay in the game and fulfill your subscription.

Check out Performanceboats.com, If you like what you see, get a subscription. They have both lake and offshore editions, and print bi-monthly, leaving the open month's for the online edition. It is new however, it was the old cast from Hotboat prior to the sale from LFP.

Order a subscription now and get a 2009 Calender with it, the Calender is sweet.

Only mags i read mow are Woodenboat and Cruising World.

All the other mags are just to simple and stupid--Boating

Used to read Powerboat for years .I get my powerboat fix on these sites now.

The rap agains boat mags not reflecting the average guys budget is BS. Look at the car mags- Lamborghini has sold fewer cars in its existence than Toyota will sell today- but everyone wants to look & dream. How about Hot Rod? They sell tons of copies to the 16-24 crowd and those customs are often 6-figure cars.

Yeah - I agree. I sure as hell can't afford a Lambo, but I also don't want to pick up MotorTrend and read an indepth review of a Hyundai Sonata - not good inspiration.

Speaking of unaffordable - This might be some odd coincidence but shortly after OSO got bought out I started receiving a free unsolicited copy of Yachting Magazine - this happen to anyone else?

Boating has the best writers and editors; magazine does not try to "prove" anything like many of the others do. It's not all performance, but what is in there is quality...and gives a really good overview of the entire pleasure industry.

Check Amazon and ebay for cheap deals on most magazines.

I just heard from someone that works for Hotboat that they are no more.

Extreme says they are switching to a Quarterly mag.

I get Yachting as well!!!

I thought it was from the B-more Boat Show- buy tickets online and you get a free subscription to a few mags like that. Boating, Yachting and Boat World or some thing along those lines.
