UIM SLIMMING DOWN RACERS
Following the UIM General Assemby, new rules for Class 1, F1, F2 and X Cats crews dictate BMI

For reasons we unsure about, the UIM at their General Assembly in Corfu last week introduced a new ruling that says competitors in Class 1, Formula 1, Formula 2 and X Cats applying for Super Licences will not be issued one, if their BMI (Body Mass Index) is 30 or above.

This is calculated by measuring body weight and height. We are not suggesting for one minute that the gentlemen in the above picture would fail the test but former world F1 champion Micheal Werner (left) looks like he has put on a few pounds since his racing days and F1 Promoter Nicolo di San Germano (centre) despite losing many kilos in recent times would probably struggle to weigh in under 30.

However 10 times world F1 champion Guido Cappellini now racing in Class 1 would probably pass the test as his bulk could be muscle as he works out a lot.

I wonder if you could average the two teammates? If so, my wife's BMI is 18 at her last physical.........
