Wall mounting TV's

What is the best height to mount a lcd? Should it be at eye level or just above and tilted down?

Ours is mounted above our fire place in the 5"0-5"2" range and I think it is a really nice height (tilted down slightly).

Good angle from laying on the couch, sitting on chairs on the other side of the room, and really nice when you are having people over and everyone is standing around with a glass of fun in their hand....

ISF (Imaging Science Foundation) spec is eye to center of screen. Most people at first will think it is to low but once they watch for a while enjoy it more. My TV is set up higher then that because I have a cabinet under it.

That is the correct height, eye level from where you will be sitting to center of screen. Obviously certain obstacles may prevent the "ideal" height.

Thanks guys. I get the new TV on Friday so I will be having fun sat. Only downside is I am down sizeing froma 51 to a 46.
