Due to problems at the race site there will be no racing, and most likely no practice or testing, allowed today. Smitty has not arrived yet but there are approximately 30 boats there. Cleveland Construction did get motors in and are in attendance.

Lake Hopatcong Grand Prix Cancelled

OPA ANNOUNCEMENT 5-4-2014

According to Dee at the race, due to the number of storms that have occurred in the Lake Hopatcong area, the water level on the lake has risen 9 1/2 feet at the dam which exceeds state regulation. With this influx level, this has caused the State Police to issue a NO WAKE zone on the entire lake.

Because of the no wake issue, OPA Racing has had to cancel the race per the New Jersey State Police rule.

Too bad it had to be cancelled. There were some teams who drove a long way to be there and are coming home with nothing. Jay announced at the meeting there Hopatcong would not try to host a race next year. I guess we'll wait and find out for sure.
