East Georgia State College held their annual Bobcat Regatta duct tape boat race on September 24, 2016. This year’s regatta boasted a large number of participants from the community and EGSC, and those assembled to watch the race had a great time watching the entrants make their way across Ezra Pond.
Winners were awarded in three categories: Most Creative, Titanic (the boat that sank in the most entertaining manner) and the Overall Winner (the boat that made it across first). Also introduced this year was the community winner.
The winner of the regatta was the Technology Student Association team, made up of Brian Zepeda, Oscar Cruz, Blake Williams and Robert Pinciro. They won a $100 gift card. The Most Creative winner was the Sassy Sinkers, made up of Maegan McCumbers, Macy McKenzie, Akira Sutton and Varencia Wilson. They took home a $50 gift card. The Titanic Award winner was Hipster Munch, with members Alayah Hurst, Jamekia Bloodsaw, Nicholas Bennett, Sierra Cray and Jaelynn Gillis. They also took home a $50 gift card. The Community Award winner was Beacon of Hope Church of God FISH, made up of Madison Hancock, Matthew Hancock, J.P. Collins, Brandi Caddell and Pamela Zina Fish. They took home certificates.
A great time was had by all at this special event, held every year as part of Parents, Family, Friends and Alumni Day, a free event that opens EGSC’s Swainsboro Campus to the community for a day of free fun. See you next year!
