As soon as I saw the Miami Herald, I figured it would be Dave Barry. The tv show Everyone Loves Raymond, is supposed to be based on the life of Dave Barry. That's one funny dude!

According to Wikipedia, admitedly not the end all be all source for info. Eveyone loves Raymond is based on Ray Romano's own family and comedy, while Dave's World, which ran on CBS from 1993-1997 was based on Dave Barry's books "Dave Barry turns 40", and "Dave Barry's greatest hits". Starring Harry Anderson.

Not to bust your Ba**s, I just hated the Everyone Loves Raymond show, his wife was such a "C" word in that show. I couldn't watch any guy be constantly belittled and berated and find it funny.
