The need for speed.

OK.. Shoulder is getting better, so I'm keeping the boat. (for now. :) )
I'm running 32" labbed bravos. The slip is really high. 15+-%, and all I got is 84 MPH. in mod chops. I'm sure the 525's with the SM shorties could push this thing a little faster. With 30" labbed bravos, but less slip. Pretty much the same. She runs great in rough seas. I know the Avanti is not the fastest hull around but there is got to be a way to get a few MPH's out of this thing. Any thoughts? Dif. props? I got 4 sets and can't get rid of them so I really don't feel like getting more props.

hows the running surface? ever think about some blueprinting? just a thought when you run out of prop.

I think you need to lose weight...................... :sifone:

Seriously,

How did you calculate the slip?
Did Charlie ever get the chance to test drive the boat?
Have the props been labbed?
Have you put an edge on the bottom to see if there is any hook?
Toe-in, Toe-out?
Rotating out I assume?

Glad the shoulder is better, and I hope you never have to get rid of the boat after all you went through...:)

Congrats P! I felt really bad when you decided to sell after everything, and after all we talked about the 27.
This thread was a nice bright spot in the day. You know how it is... you never want to see a guy work to create a piece like you did and then give it up.

Keep healing up good and good luck dialing in the Avanti!!

The boat is practically new. (2008) and the bottem is OK. May be even to "smooth'. May be to much suction. IT runs faster in rougher waters once she brakes loose.

Rat.. (Thanks, shoulder still hurts lime a MF'er but I got better range and motion back. Now it's just more rehab to get 100% of use back)

Charlie and I couldn't arrange the ride. He will be in St. Pete in the next few months or so and will get out.
The props are labbed. No hooks or any issues with th hull, props are spning in.

Julie.. Thanks, I was thinking about more cupping, but I don't want to spend the $ untill I am sure that will help. I need to experiment with some cupped props first. If I could sell my spare props, I would cupp the 30"
Would 5 blades help? I wouldnt mind trying the maximus props.

Thanks Fund.. I think I will try to attend the Ft Myers fun run. THe boat been sitting in storage colecting dust, but I started to play with it again. Just added some LED lights.
I'm actually glad it didn't sell. It became a really great and fun boat once she got done and started on the Poker Runs. KW ride was just awsome.

hey pete i have a set of 5=blade labbed maximus, you can try those if we could hook up to get them to you.when i run them i get better speed at lower rpm, but i think at top end i might have to much in the water, i run in the mid 80's, with full fuel and 6 people.

Thank Lenny

The 32's I got from you worked wll, but once I did more testing with the GPS I didn't get the speed I thought I was getting at the KW ride. My speedo is off about 3-4 MPH. Gafrig is sending a new speedo.

And thanks Yes... I would like to try the Max. props one day. Will get together soon enough. :) Sarasota run?

On the 33's with HP500's the only way to get them into the mid to upper 80's was to install pro chargers or whipple. 84 sounds good with the 525's but I used to see more around 11% slip. Maybe you should have the bottom checked for a hook? If you're fooling with the boat this week I'm over in Hudson for the week, give me a call.
