Stereo / IPOD Survival

I put a new stereo in the boat that supports an (internally docked) IPOD, the Fusion IP-600. Love the stereo, especially the remote which is mounted at the helm.

I need to get my own IPOD (and stop borrowing my wife's and daughters) and was wondering if anyone has experinece with which model survives the best from the shock when running the boat. I'd have it turned off, since you can't hear it once over about 30 anyway, but would like to leave it in the stereo dock pretty much full time. I already have trouble with the speaker grills popping off after running in rougher water which made me think about issues with IPOD survival.

Thanks - Greg

Use only the solidstate types... I use the nano and it works great. The larger ones (iPod classic) uses a hard drive and will die...

I have an original iPod Touch. The version before the Retina display. I use velcro to keep in place. Zero problems.

Good luck! :)

Thanks. I found that Fusion now has an adapter for the Nano 6th gen so that is probably what I'll go with.

I run the Fusion IP-600 with an iPod touch internally. No problems in any water. I have a 600W JL Audio amp and 7 speakers in the cockpit. I can hear the stereo at any speed now. Lovin' it!

You guys and your fancy gadgets... I just have a newer Nano I leave bouncing around the glove box, where i put the ipod connection wire.. Which, by the way, holds the smart phones OUT OF THE SUN.

TeamSynergy- - - - - right on for the solid state ones....

No problems ever.
