Serious Offshore Blackberry & I phone Apps ???

iPhone- put your thumb on the icon of the app you want to delete. After a few seconds, all the icons will wiggle. Hit the X in the corner, confirm delete and done. While they all are wiggling, you can touch one and slide it around to rearrange its location on the screen or move it to a different page.

Mine do that only after alot of beer:sifone:

Most of them are scaled down versions of large, graphically oriented websites. They basically cut out the fluff and resolution and make it easier for the phones to download the site. I use this site all the time on my Iphone and can use all the features. Since we have a fairly streamlined page load and dedicated servers the site works well without cutting anything out. Forums like this do not lend well to an app because it lines everything up in a fairly narrow line, which is difficult to read and navigate. If we can find a way to make a more user-friendly experience with an app or mobile site without losing any content we will do one up, as most people know that have been around a while, we do whatever it takes to keep this place the BEST on the net. :D

Get cracking on a favicon then :D

There's a difference between making an app, and creating a "mobile-friendly" webpage. A lot of web destinations are using the mobile.website.com or m.website.com addresses to denote their mobile friendly versions. So far I'm happy with how SOS appears on my phone.

Would it be easier to a .mobi site? I know when I go to foxnews.com on my iPhone it sends me to foxnews.mobi and it loads faster since it doesn't have all the flash and java and is more streamlined for a mobile device.

That's definitely something we want to explore. But from the recent developments I've been posting about, you can probabaly tell that our present priority is to continue to expand the content on the website and to spruce the place up a bit.

There were alot of things in the original development of the site that we viewed as compromises. but there was so much to do and so little time- and all of these fun things come with a price tag attached. Right now our push will be on making the site as world-class as we possibly can.

Hopefully by summer we'll be looking at some cool stuff like phone apps, etc.

Thanks Chris. The site is great as it is and I know you guys will do what is in the best interest of the site and the members that call it home.

FYI...I found this announcement on another boating site . From reading the post it seems like it might be fairly simple to do. I X'd out the other sites name cause I'm not sure if their is some infringment laws or someother legal BS.

PHONE APPS ARE HERE
Ask and ye shall recieve!!!!

We have put XXXX on your phone!

What you need to do is put the application Tapatalkhttp://www.tapatalk.com/mobile on you phone. Once you've done that, you search for XXXXX, and you'll have a clean, fast access to read all the forum threads and see the pictures without all the other graphics slowing you down. We've been using it all day, and I have to say, its pretty damne slick!!!!

For iPhone users.

You can get the free version HERE With this version you can read all the posts, but you can't see full size pics, or post. If you want to check it out and see if you like it, download this one first.

If you find you like it, the real app is HERE It costs $2.99 but you can post threads, pics, and see full size images.

For Android Users:

Right now the Droid version is Beta. The good news its free because of that, the bad news you can't post pics yet, but its supposed to be updated in a couple weeks to add that function. Christian has been using it, and seems to be working fine. It can be found HERE.

For Nokia Users:

Tapatalk WRT for Nokia supports all S60 3rd and 5th Edition devices, that covers almost all the Nokia medium to high-end model! Tapatalk WRT for Nokia is currently under review at Nokia Ovi Store and will be available soon.

For Blackberry Users:

Tapatalk for BlackBerry is currently under development and will be available in early February 2010 at BlackBerry App World.

Right now this seems like a fantastic tool to stay in touch on XXXX when you're on the road. Its fast and has a great interface.

As this is a third party app, please don't ask us support questions, as we won't know the answers.

Also, if at any time it seems as though this app poses a security risk to the forum in terms of hacking, or spam increasing we may shut it down at anytime, but for now, try it out, its pretty cool!
