Can you phucking believe this??? They cram this $700 Billion "rescue" package down the throats of the American taxpayer, and now they are gonna use the money differently!

Paulson: Government won't buy troubled bank assets

Instead of buying up the bad debts (and holding them until they are worth selling), they are gonna buy equity stock in troubled banks. This will result in one of two outcomes...

1) the government takes more (Socialistic) control of the Financial system, or

2) the banks go under and the money is lost!

Paulson needs to be shot!

just another reason the blue coller working people will never get ahead.our goverment is always plucking us........now more than ever.

typical politics suprises you???? now they want to give a big chunck to the big 3, who saw the suv/truck market headed for the wall 4 years ago, but choose to ignore it. they fail to observe and react to changes in the market, they fail to innovate. if gm had a 2009 geo metro selling for say 12~13k it would be flying off the lot. instead, they spend millions stuffing a v8 in an H3 and making a 'hybrid" escalade. if your shopping for a slade, are you really worried about being green and the milage?why is everyone kicking gm's ass?? because they make vehicles people want.

For the record, the H3 is a five-cylinder...
uhmmm..my brother is an engineer for dana on contract to gm, I know for a fact they have been working on it for over a year, blinged out edition v8 stronger frame and suspension etc, he is one of the leads on he project.

No kidding?
Maybe it'd wake the thing up a little.
The wife bought a new H3 in when they first came out, and that was the only motor in them.

Well what would you rather have/own:

a. A bunch of bad real estate, vacant land, or bankrupt businesses.

b. Stock in a bank that may still be eeking out a profit, and that you are buying at the bottom? Whose stock will appreciate as they sell off the bad loans, and who are familiar with the local market?

Yea, this is absolute corruption at it's best. At least I took the time to write a scathing e-mail to my senator, you all should do the same. Don't let them off the hook.

Funny.
There has been an expression in the fund raising business for many years:
"People don't buy Buicks because GM needs the money."

It used to mean that people won't respond to need as much as "buying" into something that they perceive as having value. These days.... it means that GM needs the money.
