New rifle--Mini 14 target--.223

We went to the local gun show Saturday and I have been looking at this rifle on Gunbroker.com. Kind of thinking about it, but not real sure if I want it. One of the vendors had it new and I couldn't resist. Very good price. I even bought a target/varmint scope there and had it out at the range on Sunday. Put about 100 rounds thru it and was very pleased at how it shot at 50 and 100 yards. Dead on at 50 yards and 1-2" groups at 100 yards with a 20 mph quartering wind. Even my son and future son-in-law who have never really shot rifles were in the bullseye @ 100 yds. Came with a 20 round mag and then bought another 20 and a 30 round, too. Not exactly a black gun, but still kind of cool for a .223.

I have a plain old stainless steel mini 14 ranch rifle that is probably my favorite all around gun to shoot. I have shot countless deer and coyotes with it. They are great guns.

The most fun to shoot rifle I own.

Its a custom Mini-30. Its shoots about 1" at 100 yards with off the shelf Winchester 123 grain rounds.

This was a five round group off the back of a pick-up truck.

Here is one good feature of Mini. You can change stocks in about 5 minutes. I bought the Hogue rubber overmolded stock for hunting. Before and after.
