new 34 saber

Seriously, I think the first thought should be how much fuel economy vs. speed you can get with a single IO or twin outboards? With today's outboards, 300 Verado's etc, or a single IO, 565 or?, can a moderately stepped, (ie. safe), 33 to 36 foot boat with a separate head and decent headroom cruise at 60 and get 2 mpg at that speed?

Has the power been decided yet or is that still waiting for final decision? Twin 1350's should make it move pretty good......

torn between the merc 520's, 565's and the 700nxt. Would love to do the ilmor 570 with imco or the 725 and indy but, have to think about sellability.
The 520's in the 28 are awesome engines.
since full length boat no beak/integrated platform/bussel/notch gonna need some power.

What do you think paul???

I think Sunsation did a 32 xrt with 700's that ran around 115 I seem to recall. I think Randy had it at Fast Boats for sale last year. Your 34 would certainly perform.....

As for the others, I can only guess. The 520 and the new 540 are identical engines except for exhaust and they advertise 200 rpm more on the 540. My guess is they will continue to offer both because they are identical, but the 520 has a two year warranty and after warranty, bumping it up to 550 plus would be a piece of cake.

I think the 34 with 520's is still an 85+ mph boat. I have no idea what the bling on the 540 makes the price go up.

The 520 to the 540 is a 10+ k up for the pair. it is just a bling pkg. headers, and some other stickers..... As for the single its to big of a boat. I love the ilmor 570 w imco on boxes but not sure others would. lighter motor with a better drive pkg more rpm also.
