NBC Sports To Feature 2014 Super Boat International Key West World Championships

Amidst some of the best racing we’ve seen in Key West, an eight-person film crew was also in action during the 2014 Super Boat International Key West World Championships to produce a one-hour television show on the event—focused primarily on the Superboat class.

According to J.R. Noble of the STIHL Offshore Race Team, the video crew that came to Key West produces several notable television shows, including the Bassmasters fishing tournaments and Timbersports lumberjack competitions.

“This will get some real exposure for the sport,” said Noble. “Some of the teams will have interviews, some will get on TV.”

The show will air on NBC Sports on Saturday, February 21st from 12:30PM—1:30PM EST. Make sure to tune in to the action, as it serves as a mere taste of the action that will take place in 2015!!

Don't Miss Key West Worlds on NBC Sports this Weekend Be sure to set your DVR or your alarm clock for this Saturday as NBC Sports is airing an hour-long TV special on the Super Boat International Key West World Championships, which took place in November in Key West, Fl.

Scheduled for 12:30 p.m. EST, the show was put together by an eight-person film crew that produces several notable television shows, including the Bassmasters fishing tournaments and Timbersports lumberjack competitions.

According to J.R. Noble, owner and driver of Team STIHL, the 38-foot Skater Powerboats catamran that finished fifth overall in the Superboat class in Key West, the show features some of the best offshore coverage he’s ever seen.

“I have seen the show and it is very well done—the production is excellent,” said Noble, adding that “the special is sponsored by STIHL and yours truly at BobKat Racing.” “This will get some real exposure for the sport. Some of the teams will have interviews, some will get on TV.”

SBI Show on NBC Seen By Quarter Million People

This past February, the nationally televised NBC Sports special featuring the 34th Annual Key West World Championships, was seen in over 225,000 households with the average age being 34 years old. That age being the number one target market for sports marketing. Super Boat International (SBI), the premier series in offshore racing, was proud to showcase the extreme sport of powerboat racing in Key West November of 2014.

Results of the NBC show have been overwhelmingly positive from all aspects and have led SBI into discussions to expand national broadcast shows into 2015. “The show this past February was great and so many of our race teams have called and said what an excellent show it was,” comments John Carbonell, President of SBI. “Everyone from STIHL to the production team of JM Associates and all the teams really stepped up and did an outstanding job.”
