I've now had 3 different chainsaw carvings done by this guy who came highly recommended, and I'm still blown away at his talent!

This is the latest one. It sits by the pool, on the lake side of my house, so I was a little nervous since everyone will be able to see it, should it not come out great. They are going to do some nice looking landscaping around it when it gets a little warmer.

That is very nice work anuone that can do that kind of work with a chainsaw is awesome. Question is the detail of the boat done with the chainsaw also?
 
Speachless which is rare for me- that is awesome!!

Without getting personal what "wood" one expect to pay for some thing like this?

YES, that's what so impressive about his skills. I watched him do the first one, and he only uses a large chainsaw for the initial cuts, then a smaller one for the detail....that's it!

One of the initial reasons I even looked into doing one of these carvings, was that the cost to just cut/remove/& grind the stump down, was higher than I had assumed. I figured I'd pay a little more and have something really cool & unique instead.

Without a doubt a great decision. Can he get the wood or does it have to be an existing tree in the ground?

I'd love one of these but not sure how to make it stable. Drill up from the bottom, threaded rods ran through a metal plate and bury the plate maybe? Wouldn't be where kids would be swinging on it but would obviously need to be stable

The one at my main house has two steel rebar poles going through it for added support. He "corks" the holes, inserts the bar, & caps it back off with the "corked" piece. After he silicones the seam, then applies the weather seal, the holes are invisible if you didn't see them before.

I had one made of my parents' dog for Christmas, and he used his own wood for it since it's not a stump. They keep it inside at the lake, and put it outside when they are there.

Looks great B. Can't wait to see it this summer. I know the Ferrari Horse is amazing with the detail so I am sure this is just as incredible........
