I was just in a patient room and the
TV was on showing the evening news... across the bottom was a scroll bar that said "If you are not recieving a signal and are unable to recieve our broadcast, you may need to rescan your channels and check the connections on your converter box"

Ok..so somebody please expplain, if you can NOT see the channel, just how in the hell are you going to follow the directions on the scroll bar thant you CANT see????

The person that put that crawler (that's what its called) there is a f'n retard.
 
That was a requirement from the Congressional act that mandated the FCC to order the changeover to digital. It's been past the House, Senate, public comment period, then through FAA administration. The leaders of our nation, in their infinite wisdom, felt confident in the aproach.
 
Actually, there is also a message being broadcast on the (former) analog freq of many of the stations telling people what happened and what to do.
The stations are referring to it as a "night lite."

The FCC also had 4000 operators standing by last night.

I assumed that the messages relayed on the digital carrier was meant to be shared with those who don't see it. You know, like the email at work meant for people who don't have computer access. :)
