FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Reggie Fountain story, sponsored by Mercury Marine, will premier today nationwide on the NBCSports Network at 2:30 p.m. (EST). Fountain, a long-time friend of Mercury, is one of the most storied offshore powerboat racers in history.

The documentary will focus on Fountain’s importance to the extreme sport. According to the program’s website, “the program follows the golden era of boat racing from the factory tunnel boat wars of the late 1960s through the freewheeling days of the ‘80s and the progression to modern day performance boating. The story is told in a chronological narrative with commentary by the legendary men who competed with, and influenced, the ‘Boy from Tarboro.’ The program features an extensive collection of historical footage with previously unpublished scenes from the ‘personal archives of those who were there.'”

“Reggie Fountain Jr. was a visionary in offshore powerboat racing and a legend in the sport,” said Rick Mackie, senior marketing manager of Mercury Racing. “All of us who play and work in this space have followed his storied career, and we are honored to be part of Reggie’s story.”

Details about the show and Fountain’s career can be found at www.kingofoffshore.com.

The show will be featured on NBCSports Network through the following cable providers:

Maybe you should just make 8000 copies and send one to every member!!!! Merry Christmas !!:)

I was chatting with Reggie at the show, (while running around with Charlie), and he told me the show they put on TV was the short version. He has the full version linked on his site, and is supposed to send me the entire recording.

He was looking really good by the way and said he is feeling well. I have some shots of him checking out the 53' center console.
