LAUDERHILL—

A man was shot in the back and his pants were stolen at a barber shop Friday evening, according to Lauderhill Police.

The victim, in his mid-30s, was inside the UniSex Salon in the 3100 block of West Broward Boulevard at around 6:30 p.m. when the gunman walked into the crowded business and fired one shot, Capt. Rick Rocco said.

The victim was taken to Broward Health Medical Center with a non-fatal wound, and police were searching for the shooting suspect late Friday, he said.

He wore a red shirt or bandanna over his head to cover his face, Rocco said.

The shooting scattered about 20 customers and staff from inside the combination hair salon and barber shop.

Employee Tawana Daniels hid with her three children, who range in age from 10 to 14, in the shampoo room until police arrived.

"I was terrified," she said.

No one else inside the business was wounded, police said
