$280 round trip non-stop for 2 from DC to FLL with good flight times including luggage ($60 charge!!). Getting up at 4AM sucks but getting to FLL at 9ish is nice; doesn't count as a "wasted travel day". My return leaves at 7ish to come back home which is nice since I have to get from KW back to FLL that day.

I went to New Orleans for a long weekend 3 weeks ago- 4AM wake up to get there by 10AM. I was drunk and in bed by 8PM the 1st night but some how I figured that may have happened if I got there at 4PM as well.

I did the math- it was $200 to go to miami or a grand to go to KW. My Monday return flight would have been at 8AM which means I'd have had to leave at 2AM Sunday. Plus I'd have missed the Wednesday races- I'd have been driving down A1A all afternoon.

Be advised- I've heard they've raised the fine for hitting a Keys deer to some astronomical amount- like several thousand $$.

I mathed it up as well- $1300 to get to KW. Figured that extra $1K looked better like this:

$0 Arrive Tues vs Wed
$20 extra day airport parking
$150 Mustang convertible
$100 fuel
$200 jet ski 1 hour each at Holiday Isle for a little break in driving
$50 lunch
$175 room at Hawks Cay
$250 massages before dinner
$150 dinner

This the 1st year I didn't go down Sat-Mon for a 10 day'er- wish I was there right now!!
