Knock Sensor Question

MEFI 1 single sensor. I went through the manual for testing the KS circuit. Well all except the last part measuring the 8-10Vdc and using a test light to check if the voltage changes. Everthing looked ok per the manual. I did the same test with the KS not connected and all was the same?????? Is the KS supposed to measure any resistance to GND? The manual keeps mentioning about an open in that circuit. I measured the sensor and it's open to GND. Is this normal? There is nothing on testing the KS itself just the spark control module. Any help would be great. Thanks
