MADISON, Ind. (WISH) - Three people were injured Sunday afternoon at the Regatta Boat Race in Madison, Ind. when a race boat crashed into a rescue boat. Two of those victims were taken by air ambulance to local hospitals in critical condition.

The boat—driven by Brian Perkins-- was in the middle of a racing heat when it hydroplaned and ran into the rescue boat stationed near the course, according to officials. Perkins was not injured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.

Thanks guys, I'll heal and be ready for TriCities in 3 weeks. Please keep the rescue people who were hurt earlier in the day in your prayers. One of them is still fighting for his life, currently in a medically induced coma. The two others were also seriously injured. As racers we know we could get hurt, we just never expect the people that save our lives will be the ones in jeopardy.
Take care

We will do Steve. See you in Detroit.....

No I won't make Detroit. Staying home and healing so I'll be 100% for our West coast races. We're leasing a back up boat from Mike Jones, the U-9 which won the Gold Cup in 2001 driven by our crew chief, Mike Hanson. Jon Zimmerman will be driving for us in Detroit. Have fun up there, I'll be watching on the web.
