A high school baseball coach loaned both of his Ferraris to 4 of his players, apparently with no supervision whatsoever. The teenagers were all juniors in high school and not surprisingly, managed to wreck BOTH Ferraris in a mall parking lot!!

ok so he was a retired surgeon but still

A TR and a Mondial. You can get a nice Mondial for about the same as a loaded-up new Toyota. And the TR isn't drawing big $$.

Now if it was a GTO and a 250LM...

See... the guy in the Lambo backed out of it early. You have to brake only enough to drop the nose and get under the SUV, then you have to floor it to get under it and out the other side unharmed. But he must have gotten cold feet. Loser. :leaving:

After watching my final episodes of Miami Vice on DVD last week, I thought...man, I'd LOVE to have a Testarossa...let's see how much. All of them were 60k and up...seems big enough $$ for a 20 year old car...at least from my perspective.

On the plus side for the baseball coach...he probably won't ever have to mow his lawn again with those 4 kids working off their debt.

Not that $60K is anything to sneeze at, but for perspective, I have a friend that put $45K into the trans rebuild on his Daytona last winter. When you're talking Ferrari, the dollar amounts can be staggering.

None of the coaches had Ferrari's when I was in high school. Damn...coulda been fun!

I went to Catholic school, which meant that the students sometimes had better cars than the teachers. The best coach cars that I can remember are a dodge challenger and a toyota supra. From there it was gremlins, comets and pacers. :D

What's more expensive - being a supercar enthusiast or an offshore powerboat nut?

I'd guess boating. At least some of these cars hold their value. Twin motors vs one, etc.

Eating/entertainment on at waterfront establishments alone cost a ton of money.

I wanted a $50K-$75K exotic. I could afford the car but just like boats- the upkeep will kill ya!

I have a pal that smoked the clutch on his Lambo. He was whining about the $5K in parts. I asked him if he'd like to try offshore- then I told him some stories. But, he made a good point- if he drove his LP5000 at full throttle for an hour at a time, he'd burn through way more parts.
