House Plumbing Question?

I just put a new toliet in my brother's house in his upstairs bathroom. NOW, the toliet downstairs when you flush the new one upstairs, bubbles up??

Did you put in a standard one or a powerflush? You could have a restriction in your soil stack- the instantaneous flow of a powerflush toilet coupled with a vent restriction can cause the problem you describe.

WTF,...talk about someone who knows a bit about everything!!
Nice troubleshoot Chris, sounds about right

Reminds me a lot of Cliff on Cheers. I wonder if is accuracy is any better?:biggrinjester:

could be a few things, venting issue, your main pipe might have a slight clog, or may be clogging....
or could be what sunkin is saying... we have put in a few of these gold ball suckes and never had the problme you are saying, not that it coudlnt happen....

tell us more about what you have... you have mun sewers, septic???

I had a rental that had this problem. Plumbed a tee into the bottom of the stack (3") and ran a 1.5" parallel up to the attic, then teed back in.

3" stacks are much more susceptible to these problems. Also, if you have a stack that doubles as your main drain, you have this. Some older construction has two- a down leg and a vent stack.

where are you at our newer condo in mo doesn't have a state plumbing code and the plumbers installed absolutely not one vent period except for the main stack thru the roof and t's on there backs what a mess the top floor dos'nt have a problem though
